Hey, everyone. I know it’s been a while since I ve posted anything but Jane has been bugging me and I’ve decided to rejoin the blogging life.
A lot has happened in the past 4 years and I have been through a lot of changes-good and bad. I plan on spending the next several posts bringing you up to speed on everything that’s happened. But for now, I’m just saying hi and getting my feet wet.
Thank you Jane, for pushing me to do this. I look forward to sharing posts with you again.
“Everyone on my Christmas list is getting a VCR or towels and I am fresh out of VCR’s.”
“Do you think Satan gets a lot of accidental letters from kids at Christmas?”
Hey, y’all! I know it’s been a while. I still have not learned to manage my time well. And for those of you, who’s posts I read and comment on, I have read some of your posts-I just did not have time to comment on them.
Anyway, first off-I am going to move my Jack The Ripper posts to another day because Friday is no longer a good day for them. I have not run out of facts-it would be a looooong time before I did that.
I have had a few weeks of school and I am really enjoying it. I had Health & Hygiene and made a 100 on my test. Yay!
Now, I am in Swedish Massage on Tuesday and Thursday and Anatomy & Physiology on Friday. I found out that Anatomy is the study of the structure of the body and Physiology is the study of the function of parts of the body. I have a test on Tuesday on 4 different chapters and have been trying to study for it. The instructors review us every class, which helps.
The test will be on the history of massage, the different ranges of motion of joints, the names of strokes we have learned and 11 endangerment sites on the body-of which we are not to touch-unless it’s your enemy. Just kidding.
Although, after Cole told us what they were, he said he had a former cop raise his hand and say, “Cole, those are the areas we were instructed to use to take someone down with.”
So now you know.
In Health & Hygiene, we heard some funny stories from the husband and wife team that taught us. For example, Nicole (the wife), told us that Joseph (the husband) had a guy come in for a massage but left before getting undressed. Nicole said, “What happened? Why did he leave?”
Joseph said, “He’s coming back. When I told him to take everything off but leave his underwear on, he said he has to go out to his truck to get his underwear.”
I don’t want to know why his underwear was in his truck.
Joseph told another story about a guy, that he had just started working on. Joseph looked out the window and saw the guy’s car moving. He told the guy and the guy jumped off the table and ran outside, naked, to stop his car. Evidently, it was a really nice car and the guy had put it in neutral instead of park.
In our Anatomy class, the instructor told us about this lady, who is 78 years old. He said he has to close the door really fast or else she will strip in front of him and stand there and talk to him, with nothing on.
I have a lot to learn but I love the classes. I have moved past the awkward stage with the other students-we are starting to get to know each other better and like each other. We are all in the same boat. We are all awkward, when massaging each other but getting a little better each time.
As far as massage, I have learned a basic routine on the back, arms and legs. We have been practicing it every time. Thursday, I’m supposed to learn a little more of that routine. My biggest problem is the draping-uncovering an area to work on it and leaving everything else covered up. For me, it’s like trying to fold the pizza box after opening it. I just don’t get it-I can’t see how it’s supposed to look. Cole says I’ll get it, eventually.
So that’s what is going on. Some of this stuff is hard but a lot of it is fun. Pray for my test-our fellow classmate grades it-that can be embarrassing. At least, last time I was lucky.
Anyway, I hope all is going well with you. I look forward to hearing from you.
One of the theories surrounding the death of victim, Mary Kelly, was that she was not a Ripper victim. Since her face so badly injured that it could not be identified, people began to suspect that the victim was not Mary Kelly and that Mary Kelly, herself, killed another woman and stole her identity.
Part of this theory comes from the woman’s clothes in the fireplace-that Mary Kelly burned them to be rid of evidence.
Others believe the clothes were burning in he fireplace to give the Ripper light to work by, since he was indoors.
It’s been a while since I last posted. I am much better about the piggies. A lot of my day is taken up by taking care of our puppy, Xenon, which is fun.
I’ve also been doing a lot of thinking. I have had this in the back of my mind for about twenty years and I have decided to do it.
“So, what is this thing?” You say.
I have decided to go to school for massage therapy. I start on October 11. It will take about a year, during which, I will be interning. I think I begin my internship in February-the month of my birthday. Maybe I can get a free massage. 😜
I will still continue to write but it will be less often, as it already is. Terry suggested that maybe I could write about some of the clients that come in for a massage. Maybe I could write about school, too. Who knows?
In preparing for my license, I will need to take Health & Hygiene, Hydrotherapy-using water, when to use heat and when to use cold, Pathology, Anatomy &Physiology (which is scary, a little), Swedish Massage, Business, Shiatsu Massage, Reflexology, Pregnancy Massage and Kinesiology-the movement of the body.
I’m really excited and can’t wait to start classes. The first four days will be Health &Hygiene. Woo hoo! Something about taking care of your stuff and keeping it clean, I think.
Anyway, that’s what is going on. I will keep you updated. Until then, bye!
Here is Xenon, doing his favorite thing-sun bathing.
