I am collaberating with a woman named Andrea Hutchinson for a little something she likes to call:
Few Words Thursday or Let My Words Be Few…Thursday
As the title says, we are going to be doing posts in the fewest words possible (and still make sense). So here goes, and I already have several sentences.
My oldest child got her driver’s license yesterday. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
(You can take that as a happy scream or a scream of anguish.)
she’s gone to the store for the first time, by herself. What happened to my little girl? But I’m so excited for her, at the same time. As she was about to leave, I looked at her and saw a different person. A bigger girl. Several things went through me…sadness, happiness, pride, grief; you know-you’re so happy that they have their license because you remember what it felt like, you’re glad that they can go to the store and get stuff and you don’t have to go but the feelings when they walk out the door the first time.
As soon as the door closed, I heard her squeal in delight and I had to laugh. Then I heard her say, “Freedoooooom!” I can’t help but be happy for her. I can also trust that she will be OK because God will be with her. This is one of those situations where you have to sit back and let God take care of it; although, you’re also kind of glad that God will keep them safe.
Speaking of that-she just walked in as I was wrapping up this post. Thank you, God!
And I’m not going to tell her that I heard her through the door. 🙂
