“I bought some batteries, but they weren’t included.”

*smile … this I don’t get at all … but I’m Swedish.
Steven Wright is a comedian who likes to do play-on-words. One time he said he bought a dog and named it “Stay” and confused the dog when he called it,”Come, here, Stay.”
He also likes to talk about all of the bad things that happen to him-and if you buy batteries and they aren’t in the box, that’s bad.
As far as the joke about the batteries, a lot of commercials, here, for electronic things or for toys for kids, will say at the end of the commercial, “Batteries not included”. So you have to go out and buy your own batteries.
Hope that helps.
Okay… I understand – thanks for explaining to me.
