October Fact A Day

East Hartford, Connecticut Representative, Tim Larson wants to change the date of Halloween to the last Saturday of the month. He says it would be easier on kids and parents because they would not be trying to fit in time for homework and parents would not have to try to rush home to cook dinner and get the kids out to trick-treat before it gets too late.

5 minute friday-Beauty

It’s Friday again and time to participate in 5 minute friday with the gypsy mama, a woman from South Africa who initiated this brilliant prompt-write for five minutes, no editing, no stopping and you, too can join in the fun by clicking on the button underneath this sentence and typing your post in her comments or type it out first and link up to her linky tool, which you should be able to get to. Even if you’re not a writer, and you are inspired by the prompt, no one will criticize you for it if you give it your best!
These are her few rules:

Want to take five minutes with me and share what you found? Want to just write without worrying if it’s just right or not. Here’s how we do it:

1. Write for 5 minutes flat with no editing, tweaking or self critiquing.

2. Link back here and invite others to join in {you can grab the button code in my right side bar}

3. Go and tell the person who linked up before you what their words meant to you. Every writer longs to feel heard.

OK, are you ready? Give me your best five minutes for the prompt:

I am constantly amazed at the beauty I see around me. The deep green in the trees, the blue in the sky, the smell, shape and texture of the flowers scream to me that an intelligent God created them.
The brilliant orange in the sun and the fact that you can’t look directly into it without pain, not to mention the warmth we get from it, it cannot be an accident. The colors and shapes of the moon and the mystery surrounding it for so long, leaves me in wonder.
My wonderful house, that my husband bought for us to live in, I can’t keep up with it all the time.
The beauty in my daughter’s voice when she sings, the young woman she has become, so good and sweet and honest. I am so proud!
The beauty of my younger daughter as the little girl look leaves her and the teenage looks sets in, the fact that she was baptized last weekend and is maturing faster than i can keep up with, and all four of us can be together in heaven. I am so proud of her!

5 minute friday-On Forgetting

Got five minutes? Here’s a great way to spend them.

1. Write for 5 minutes flat without editing your voice.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. Pony up the comment love for the five minuter who linked up before you.

I love reading what you write – it’s five minute art that lasts a lifetime. And it gives me a chance to give one of you a little somethin’ somethin’ from DaySpring, who I love more than cotton candy!

The words above are the gypsy mama’s.  Now I will add my own.  Today’s prompt is:  ON FORGETTING

Forgetting and I have been friends for years.  When I was a senior in high school, my brother and I were in a head-on collision-head-on for us-back end for (more…)
